The Kobalt Tools 500 is a Sprint Cup Series NASCAR race that will take place at Atlanta Motor Speedway on March 8, 2009. Atlanta Motor Speedway is considered one of the most fan-friendly raceways on the Sprint Cup circuit. There is a lot of free parking at the Atlanta Motor Speedway, and the only paid parking is not on the property of Atlanta Motor Speedway. Fans are allowed to bring coolers up a to a specific size.
Jeff Gordon will be looking to return to a winning streak while Matt Kenseth and Kyle Busch will be working to keep up a strong start to the NASCAR season. Kenseth wants to build on his early victories and wants to put some distance between himself and the other drivers.With a few races in the books, by the time teams race in Atlanta they hope to hitting a groove.

From the ‘I-can’t-believe-people-actually-live-their-lives-like-this’ department:
An ex-girlfriend of Roberto Alomar filed an explosive lawsuit alleging the former baseball star insisted on unprotected sex for four years despite having AIDS.
The lawsuit, filed Jan. 30 and transferred to U.S. District Court on Wednesday, contains accusations that could not be corroborated but portray Alomar as someone who demanded sex without a condom despite showing obvious signs of HIV.
Ilya Dall is seeking at least $15 million in punitive damages from the 41-year-old former infielder. Alomar, who was once engaged to tennis star Mary Pierce, spent 17 years in the majors and was one of the game’s great second basemen.

Marquette has had to fight against the perception that they aren’t a legit contender for the Big East despite sharing or holding the conference lead for good chunks of the season. Now this won’t help their cause, either:
cottie Reynolds scored 27 points, Corey Fisher had 21 and No. 13 Villanova continued its dominant Big East run in a 102-84 win over No. 10 Marquette on Tuesday night.
Dante Cunningham had 15 points for the Wildcats (20-4, 8-3) and Shane Clark had 16. The Wildcats knocked off their third Top 25 team in their six-game winning streak and won their 26th straight game at the Pavilion.
They reached the 100-point mark in consecutive Big East games for the first time in team history.
Marquette (20-4, 9-2) was unranked when it came away with a home victory against Villanova in the conference opener, a win that sparked the Golden Eagles to a 9-0 start in the Big East. Now, they’ve lost two straight on the road.
Two straight road losses isn’t as perilous as sports writers want to make it seem, but Marquette isn’t doing itself any favors here.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have no knowledge that Ben Roethlisberger played the Super Bowl with two broken ribs, as the quarterback told a Web site.
According to SI.com, Roethlisberger said his fractured ribs did not show up on X-rays taken before he led the Steelers to a 27-23 win over Arizona on Feb. 1, but were revealed only during a MRI test he had last week.
“Luckily, in the game, I didn’t take any big hits to make ‘em hurt,” Roethlisberger told SI.com. “But I knew all along there was something wrong. There wouldn’t have been anything that could have been done about fractured ribs anyway. It was just suck it up and play.
